Breast Cancer Research Trust NZ, gaining knowledge and saving lives

Ways you can support us

The Breast Cancer Research Trust and Te Whatu Ora Health NZ - Waikato do not receive any formal government funding for breast cancer research. With each clinical trial costing at least $200,000 to run we rely on FUNdraising, donations, grants and sponsorship to ensure we can continue our evidence-based breast cancer research in pursuit of the BEST.

Research is the best weapon we have to fight breast cancer. By providing wāhine/women with access to clinical trials, we can advance our knowledge of breast cancer, discover best-practice treatments, and get patients the outcomes they so desperately hope for.

Through the Entertainment App, every offer redeemed helps fund life-saving research - at no extra cost to you.

Whether it’s a dinner out, a weekend escape, or a local experience, your everyday moments can make a real difference. It’s giving that fits into your life - and helps change someone else’s.

With your support we will be able to:

  • set up even more clinical trials

  • cover the cost of clinical trial related surgeries and expensive equipment

  • send blood and tumour samples to specalised laboratories overseas

  • pay for the dispensing of trial drugs by trial pharmacists

  • survey women’s quality of life in relation to reconstruction surgery or trial treatments

  • ensure our research staff attend training courses, workshops and conferences for their professional development and continuing education

  • assist breast cancer specialist staff to attend educational conferences and meetings in relation to improving breast cancer care

  • purchase subscriptions and memberships to professional organisations

  • support research nurses to attend weekly breast multidisciplinary meetings on management of new breast cancer cases

  • assist with costs of publications and dissemination of research results to the medical and wider communities

  • advertise and promote our clinical trials to reach as many potential participants as possible

  • provide people with information leaflets about us, our research and clinical trials

  • the majority of people that participate in a clinical trial say they do so because they want to make a difference for future generations and they are making a difference. We want to ensure that their journey with us is as stress-free as possible

  • pay for parking costs at Waikato Hospital

  • contribute towards travel and accommodation costs
